villagers believe that the falling stars carry with them the spirits of their ancestors, who come to visit and bestow blessings upon their descendants. In order to show their respect and gratitude, the villagers would prepare offerings of food, incense, and flowers for the spirits.
The night before the flowery moon festival, a young man named Xiao Li decided to take his beloved wife Mei out for a walk by the river. The sky was filled with twinkling stars as they strolled hand in hand along the banks of the river. Suddenly, a bright red streak flashed across the sky.
"Look! A red star!" Mei exclaimed her eyes wide with wonder.
Xiao Li smiled warmly at her reaction "It's not just any star," he whispered into her ear "It's said that when you make a wish on such a star during this time of year your dreams will come true."
Mei looked up at him trustingly “Really? Then what shall I wish for?”
Xiao Li hesitated before answering “I want you to be happy no matter where life takes us” He took both of her hands in his own and continued "And if fate allows it maybe we can build our dream home here by this river"
Tears welled up in Mei’s eyes as she nodded eagerly “Yes…yes…that would be wonderful”
As they stood there under those magical lights gazing up at that crimson streak soaring through space something strange began happening. The air around them started glowing softly reddish hue spreading like ripples on water.
This is it! This must be what happens when one makes an oath under such auspicious circumstances thought Xiao Li but instead speaking aloud he whispered softy so only he could hear: “If my love becomes reality let me find peace within myself.”
The light enveloped them completely then vanished leaving behind an unspoken promise etched deep within their hearts -a bond between two souls stronger than any mortal tie could ever hope to achieve.
From that day forward whenever Xiao Li or Mei looked up at those same stars shining brightly against endless blackness they were reminded not only of each other but also about keeping faithfulness alive even when all seems lost or impossible -an eternal reminder from beyond known realms reminding them never forget how much they truly mean to one another.
