Born from stone on Flower Fruit Mountain during China's Song Dynasty era (960-1279 AD), Sun Wukong spent much time mastering martial arts under various masters before becoming involved with other gods such as Buddha himself! Journey to West: The Quest for Buddhist Scriptures

In 1590 CE, Chinese novelist Wu Cheng'en penned "Journey to West," which tells an epic tale about four companions embarking on their perilous journey westward along China's Silk Road route in search of sacred scriptures called sutras from India – specifically those written by Buddha himself!

Their pilgrimage became known as "Xīyóu Jì" or "Journey Across Western Oceans."
